Edu Plus Workshops and Tuitions – Terms & Conditions for 1-to-1 Tuition

(Effective from: 31.01.2026)

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern the agreement between Edu Plus Workshops and Tuitions (“the Tutor”) and the parent, guardian, or adult learner (“the Client”) for the provision of 1-to-1 tuition services, delivered either in person or online.

By signing the tuition agreement and submitting payment, the Client confirms acceptance of these Terms.

Edu Plus Workshops and Tuitions operates in accordance with:

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)

  • Equality Act 2010

  • Children Act 1989 & 2004

  • UK GDPR & Data Protection Act 2018

  • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

  • RIDDOR 2013

  • UK best practice for private tuition

 

2. Tuition Delivery

Lessons may be delivered:

  • Face-to-face, or

  • Online via Google Meet

The Tutor reserves the right to determine the most appropriate format where required for safety, educational quality, or operational reasons.

 

3. Switching Lesson Format

Students who normally attend in person may request an online lesson, provided they give at least 12 hours’ notice.

Requests made with less than 12 hours’ notice may be treated as a late cancellation, and the full session fee will apply.

 

4. Online Tuition Requirements

Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring the student is properly equipped for online learning.

Technical Requirements

Students must have:

  • Stable high-speed internet

  • Laptop or desktop computer (phones are not suitable)

  • Working camera (must remain on)

  • Functioning microphone

  • Access to Google Meet

  • Reliable power supply

Edu Plus Workshops and Tuitions is not responsible for the disruption caused by inadequate equipment or connectivity.

Lessons cannot be extended due to technical difficulties on the student’s side.

 

Learning Environment

Students must:

  • Work in a quiet, well-lit area

  • Be seated at a desk or table

  • Have materials prepared

  • Minimise distractions

A responsible adult must remain present in the home during sessions involving minors.

 

Online Safeguarding

  • Lessons are conducted only via Google Meet

  • Meeting links must not be shared

  • Students must not record or screenshot lessons

  • Sessions may be recorded by the Tutor

The Tutor may terminate a session immediately if safeguarding concerns arise.

 

5. Recording of Lessons – Safeguarding Clause

All sessions are audio and video recorded for:

  • safeguarding

  • safety

  • quality assurance

  • dispute resolution

  • Recordings are:

  • securely stored

  • accessible only to the Tutor

  • retained for a maximum of 30 days

  • never shared

  • never used for marketing

Booking confirms acceptance of this policy.

 

6. Teaching Approach & Resources

The Tutor will:

  • Address misconceptions

  • Close knowledge gaps

  • Build confidence

  • Adapt teaching to individual needs

Standard learning materials are provided at no additional cost.

Loaned materials remain the property of Edu Plus Workshops and Tuitions.

 

7. Fees

KS3: from £35 per hour

Higher levels / Functional Skills / Re-sits: from £40 per hour

Additional time for regular students:

  • +30 minutes — £10

  • +60 minutes — £20

Discounts may be offered at the Tutor’s discretion and may be withdrawn at any time.

 

8. Fees & Half-Termly Payments

Fees are payable in advance, half-termly, via bank transfer only.

Bank details will be provided after the tuition agreement has been signed.

Payment confirms the reservation of the student’s dedicated weekly time slot.

 Fees are based on the reservation of the Tutor’s time rather than attendance.

 

Missed Lessons

  • Half-term fees remain payable regardless of absence.

  • Refunds or credits are not issued for missed lessons.

Tutor Cancellation

  • If the Tutor cancels a session, it will be rearranged, refunded, or credited toward the next half term.

Failure to pay may result in the immediate release of the tuition slot.

 

9. Scheduling, Term Dates & Holiday Availability

Tuition broadly follows the local school term structure.

Half Terms

  • Half-term periods are charged in full to maintain the student’s allocated place.

  • Included Dates

  • Where the Tutor remains available, certain dates — including May Day and INSET days — may be included within the half-term schedule.

  • Parents will be notified in advance.

Holiday Tuition

Additional sessions may be offered during school holidays. These are optional and subject to availability.

 

10. Attendance & Cancellations

Unplanned Absence

  • 12+ hours notice — may be rearranged

  • Less than 12 hours — full fee charged

Planned Absence

  • Minimum 7 days’ notice required.

  • Late notice results in the lesson being charged.

Tutor Absence

  • Sessions will be rearranged or credited.

 

10A. Late Collection / Pick-Up

Students must be collected promptly.

A 5-minute grace period applies.

After this, a fee of £10 per 15 minutes (or part thereof) will be charged.

Persistent lateness may result in the withdrawal of the tuition place or transition to online lessons.

Safeguarding procedures may be followed if a parent cannot be contacted.

 

11. Notice Period & Termination

Notice to terminate tuition must be provided before the start of a new half-term.

Once a half-term invoice has been issued, fees remain payable in full.

Either party may otherwise terminate with 14 days’ written notice, provided all fees are settled.

Immediate termination may occur in cases of:

  • safeguarding concerns

  • non-payment

  • abusive or unreasonable behaviour

  • repeated policy breaches

The Tutor reserves the right to refuse or withdraw services where continuation is not in the student’s best interest.

 

12. Safeguarding & Student Welfare

Edu Plus Workshops and Tuitions is fully committed to child safety.

Available upon request:

  • Enhanced DBS

  • Public Liability Insurance

  • Teaching qualifications

Concerns may be reported to safeguarding authorities where required by law.

 

13. Mobile Phones and Personal Devices

Students are discouraged from using phones during lessons.

Edu Plus Workshops and Tuitions accepts no responsibility for lost or damaged devices.

Photography or recording is strictly prohibited.

 

14. Health & Safety

The Tutor complies with:

  • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

  • Workplace Regulations

  • RIDDOR 2013

Reportable incidents will be submitted to the Health and Safety Executive.

 

15. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

An inclusive environment is provided in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Discrimination, harassment, or victimisation will not be tolerated.

Reasonable adjustments are made wherever possible.

 

16. Data Protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with UK GDPR and used solely for tuition, safeguarding, and administration.

Information is never shared unless legally required.

 

17. Professional Boundaries

Communication will occur during reasonable working hours.

The Tutor is not available for unscheduled academic support outside booked sessions unless agreed separately.

Personal contact via social media is not permitted.

 

18. Limitation of Liability

While every effort is made to provide high-quality tuition, Edu Plus Workshops and Tuitions does not guarantee specific academic outcomes.

The Tutor shall not be liable for:

  • examination performance

  • school decisions

  • lack of student effort

  • circumstances beyond reasonable control

Liability is limited to the fees paid for the preceding half term.

Nothing excludes liability where unlawful to do so.

 

19. Force Majeure

The Tutor shall not be considered in breach of this agreement where services cannot be delivered due to events beyond reasonable control, including:

  • severe weather

  • illness

  • government restrictions

  • infrastructure failure

  • public health emergencies

Sessions may be rearranged or moved online where possible.

 

20. Non-Solicitation

Clients agree not to attempt to engage the Tutor outside Edu Plus Workshops and Tuitions or bypass standard business arrangements.

This clause remains in effect for 6 months following termination.

 

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement and supersede prior discussions.

No variation is valid unless agreed in writing.

 

22. Policy Updates

Edu Plus Workshops and Tuitions reserves the right to update these Terms.

Clients will be notified of significant changes.
